Kaila is excited to begin her career as an articling student at JSS Barristers.
Kaila obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in History from Queen's University in 2012. While at Queen's, Kaila was involved in the arts community and helped to organize the Exposure Arts Festival on campus.
Kaila then attended the University of Alberta Faculty of Law, from which she graduated with distinction in 2016. While obtaining her JD, Kaila volunteered with the Edmonton Community Legal Centre and the Elizabeth Fry Society's CourtWorks program, gaining experience in civil and criminal law. She was also employed at the Edmonton Community Legal Centre for the summer of 2015, where she assisted clients with employment, landlord/tenant, and social benefit issues at Provincial Court and before administrative tribunals.
Kaila was also active in the competitive mooting program. She competed in the Alberta Court of Appeal Civil moot in 2015, and on the national Laskin Moot Court Competition in 2016. In her spare time, Kaila enjoys camping, canoeing, and watercolour painting.
