Christy was born and raised in Calgary. Before beginning her post-secondary studies, Christy lived in London, England for six years. After arriving in London, Christy worked as a bartender in a Soho jazz club and eventually built a successful career in internet development. She returned to Canada to complete a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree at the University of Calgary, where she won the 2007 Political Science Medallion. Christy graduated from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law in 2010.

Over the course of her studies, Christy worked as a research assistant to political science professor Dr. Rainer Knopff, with whom she conducted research on subjects such as the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and Aboriginal harvesting rights. While at law school, Christy was involved in the mooting program and was a member of the 2009 Gale Cup Moot Team which won the national competition in Toronto. Christy and the other members of the Gale Cup team advanced to represent Canada in the 2009 Commonwealth Moot which was held in Hong Kong.

Before joining JSS Barristers in April 2011, Christy articled with the Court of Appeal of Alberta, where she worked closely with the Justices of the Court and other court staff. This experience enhanced Christy’s keen interest in appellate advocacy. In her spare time, Christy enjoys traveling, running and adding to her wine collection.
