Zao Han joined JSS Barristers in 2014 as an articling student. She was a summer student at the firm in 2013.
Zao graduated with an H.B.Sc. with distinction from the University of Toronto in 2010, specializing in genetics and biotechnology. This was followed by the completion of her legal education in 2014, receiving a J.D. from the Western University. While in law school, Zao acted a case worker at Western University's Community Legal Services, helping clients with criminal, small claims court, as well as landlord and tenant issues. In addition, Zao took part in a specialized team dealing with immigration law, helping graduate students with their immigration applications.
Before moving to Calgary, Zao spent her early years living in a number of places across three continents, including cities in China, Japan, Germany, and the United States. Zao is a native speaker of Chinese (Mandarin), and is fluent in Japanese as well.
In her spare time, Zao enjoys reading, hiking, and swimming, and has travelled extensively in Europe and Asia. Above all other interests though, Zao loves the visual arts, including drawing, painting, and museum-going.
