Prior to practising law Trent worked for seven years in enforcement and regulatory positions with the Government of Alberta. While doing so he obtained a Bachelor of Professional Arts in Governance, Law and Management from Athabasca University.

In 2008 Trent began his legal studies at the University of Calgary. While in law school Trent was part of the winning Health Law Moot team, successfully defended an accused in a criminal trial (as a volunteer with Student Legal Assistance) and volunteered as a Board Member of the Students' Union Review Board.

Trent joined JSS Barristers as a summer student in 2010. He returned in 2011 to complete his articles and then accepted a position as an associate.

Trent has been lead counsel in: oppression actions, commercial arbitrations, oil and gas disputes, real property disputes, commercial lease disputes and numerous other corporate and commercial litigation matters.

Additionally, Trent has experience in class actions, including securities class actions, and employment law.

During the summer months Trent plays as much softball as he can, and in the winter months he works on improving his curling game.
