Simon joined JSS Barristers as an associate in 2013, after articling with the firm. Simon has a general practice in civil litigation, including employment law, class actions, real estate law and contractual disputes. He has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta, with trial experience in Provincial Court and the Court of Queen's Bench.
Simon graduated from the University of Calgary Law School in 2012. During his time at law school, Simon won the Borden Ladner Gervais LLP Scholarship, the L.H. Fenerty, QC Law Prize and the Sean Smith Memorial Bursary in Criminal Law. He also volunteered as a member of the trial division with Student Legal Assistance and ran trials before the Provincial Court of Alberta in both criminal and civil matters. Simon played for the Law School Rugby and Hockey teams.
Prior to law school, Simon obtained a bachelor in Administrative and Commercial Studies from the University of Western Ontario, after which he worked as a broadcast associate for the Business News Network in Toronto.
Simon enjoys travelling, working and volunteering abroad. Simon has taught English in Thailand, built houses in Costa Rica, taken Spanish courses in Bolivia, and done independent volunteer work in Guatemala. He also enjoys golf, snowboarding, rugby, hockey, squash, and plays guitar in the JSS Barristers band: the Advo-Cats.
