Shane joined JSS Barristers in 2013. Prior to working at JSS Barristers, Shane was an associate at a major international law firm where he practiced civil litigation. Shane’s practice includes corporate litigation, commercial litigation and administrative law. Shane also has recent experience acting with a team of lawyers on two major commercial arbitrations, both with tens of millions of dollars at issue.

Prior to law school, Shane attended the University of Calgary from 2003-2008, where he concurrently obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (First Class Honours) and Psychology (Distinction). While studying at the University of Calgary, Shane won a number of research grants and fellowships studying legal theory.

Shane graduated from the University of Victoria Faculty of Law in 2011 and was active in the law school community during his time at UVic. Shane volunteered for the UVic Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Camp, Pro Bono Law Students Canada and worked as a research assistant for Professor Robert Howell. Shane also won a number of awards in law school including the Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP award in Corporate & Commercial Law, the David Roberts Prize in Legal Writing and the Lawson Lundell Law Prize in Business Law Associations.

Shane is an active volunteer for the Alberta Provincial Court Civil Claims Duty Counsel Project. Shane also teaches Law 405: Fundamental Legal Skills at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law. Shane also volunteered with the United Way in 2011-2012 and helped organize a multi-day fund raising event.

In his spare time, Shane enjoys reading, golfing and honing his culinary skills. Shane is also tirelessly searching for the perfect brunch spot and the best patio for an after work beer.
