Giovanni Perri is an Articling Student at JSS Barristers with a Juris Doctor from the University of Western Ontario, making him the first person in his family to graduate from law school.
Experience
Giovanni joins JSS Barristers after summering with the in-house counsel team of a FinTech start-up in Calgary, Alberta. Before law school, he worked as a Commercial Assistant with the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Education
While studying at Western Law, Giovanni competed in the 2023 Adam F. Fanaki Competition Law Moot, where he was awarded both Best Factum and Best Team for the Appellants, alongside his moot partner. Giovanni was also the recipient of the Harold G. Fox Entrance Scholarship at Western Law in 2020.
Prior to pursuing his law degree, Giovanni attended Mount Royal University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Policy Studies (Honours), with minors in Economics and Political Science. During his undergraduate studies, he was awarded the Dr. Yusuf Umar Memorial Scholarship for excellence in political studies and the Kevin Gillis Scholarship for excellence in economics.
Community
Giovanni is an advocate for community engagement. During his time at Western Law, he was active with numerous advocacy groups, including the Community Legal Services Clinic and Sport Solution Clinic. As the Co-founder and Co-President of the Western Italian Students Law Society, Giovanni celebrated and shared the Italian culture with students and those in the legal profession.
Personal
Outside of work, Giovanni enjoys hiking, skiing, and golfing with friends and family. He also enjoys playing and coaching hockey and exploring new cultures through travel.
